#2 Asana alignment & adjustment: workshop with Val Petrich, 11–13.09.2026 Poznan, Poland

Calling all teachers and enthusiastic practitioners!

Join this intense, but rewarding training to safely do the challenging poses that you have always wanted to try. Through hands on adjustments and the intelligent use of props you will be set up to succeed in poses you didn’t think possible.

Time will be spent on the key poses of a classical syllabus (Iyengar Introductory 1) and their correct alignment, therapeutic benefits and precautions.

This is an ideal workshop for teachers, trainees and experienced yoga practitioners to advance their practice and guide their students to advance as well.

This is a opportunity to go deeper under the guidance of a senior teacher trained in the Iyengar style. Participants are encouraged to all of their questions related to the safe progression of asana practice.

What can you expect?

  • The workshop plan will contain poses from Iyengar Introductory 1 syllabus — detailed schedule will be published soon.
  • We will touch the subject of therapeutic dimension of asana.
  • We will talk about benefits and contraindications in asana practice.
  • You will have opportunity to ask your questions and talk about all the subjects with the teacher.

 

When and where?

  • 11–13.09.2026: Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday full days
  • Studio Jogi Yam in Poznan, Poland
  • Online transmission is not available.
  • On Saturday evening, we invite participants to dinner and satsang (circle). Dinner included in the workshop fee.
  • The workshop will be translated into Polish.

  • reservation fee PLN 200 (non-refundable in the event of participant resignation)

The workshop will be held with a minimum group of 10 people. The number of places is limited.

The workshop will be partially based on the knowledge provided to Val by Dr. Norman Sjoman, who visited the studio twice. Dr. Sjoman was a student of Iyengar and a sanskritists, who spent 25 years in India researching the sources of yoga. He is the author of “The Yoga Tradition of the Mysore Palace”. About Val Petrich

Val Petrich (now based in Calgary, Canada) began yoga in 1975 and is a long time yoga teacher.  She is the founder of The Yoga Studio College of Canada. Her early experiences training with BKS Iyengar in the 1980’s sparked a life time commitment to Iyengar yoga and also led her to do inner child work to reconcile perfectionism. She is a certified Psychosynthesis facilitator and yoga therapist using additional models such as voice dialogue and Gestalt to work with those in addiction, trauma and recovery.

Val visited Poland twice in 2025. She held yoga therapy workshops in Poznań, Gdańsk, Koleczkowo and Warsaw. I shared the stories related to her previous visits any my trip to Canada where I studied with her for two months on my Instagram account and Joga Yam Studio blog.

Val’s unique energy, charisma and personality bring exceptional value and depth. As a senior yoga and meditation teacher she shares her lifetime experience on the field. As a person she amazes with inexhaustible inner source of love, compassion, understanding, immense joy and captivating life force she keeps in her 70’s.
